PERSONALITY
this is a basic cliffnotes version until i can be assed to type shit up (though her toyhouse profile has some other bits, one day i'll consolidate this shit lmao);

- Exceedingly casual; there's not a lot that can genuinely affect Carmelita even on particularly bad days, and she's the sort to try to avoid thinking too hard about anything. It is very often to her detriment, especially without Fomalhaut to try and guide her along. She can come off as pretty tactless sometimes as a result of this too, since she has the habit of saying what's on her mind without thinking. It also influences a lot of how she treats people; she calls literally nobody by their own name, instead electing to give them a nickname based on what physical or mental attributes stand out the most about them. She's very much of the mindset 'I'm here for a good time, not a long time, so I want to make the most of it.', and it shows in how she interacts with people.

- Even to people who are decent towards her, she can be a little Much, sometimes. Carmelita is the sort of person who doesn't really know how to make longstanding friendships or the like; she's used to drifting without an end, occasionally only going back to the guild she works with sometimes for odd jobs and getting money through them. But at most, she tends to spend a week or two in a village or town that she goes to, striking up conversations with people as easy as breathing and dragging them out on adventures. It's just how she is; she's the sort of person to seek people out to talk, or to do something stupid, or just to do anything without too much thought to it before inevitably forgetting them entirely as her journey continues. Even so, Carmelita is the sort to remember little things about people for as long as they're around her; the nicknames she gives them, their demeanors and their likes, and she doesn't mind going slightly out of her way for people sometimes, even if it's not something she's particularly interested in.

- In a way, she's like a moth to the flame, and that flame is interesting people. Carmelita likes people who are unusual, who are strange, who stand out in ways that are obvious. She thinks they're interesting and does like to listen to stories from them, even if she'll inevitably forget about them. As is likely obvious, being stuck in a place with people for a long time is...something she's only experienced at home, so it's obviously a mixed bag of an experience she's not actually gonna know what to do with.

- There's. A lot she has not and is not willing to confront about herself; how deeply angry she is deep down at the lot she was given in life, at just how restless she is and how often she moves from place to place just to fill a gaping, endless void of unhappiness. She's not willing to confront the fact that killing everyone on the island for the sake of her freedom didn't fix all of her problems, and if anything, it gave her new ones. And she certainly doesn't like anyone giving her the idea that she's broken at all; that seems to be one of the few ways to actually get her furious.

- THERE'S STILL A FUCKTON I NEED TO WRITE DOWN god, what a mess this woman is, but this is the basics.
HISTORY
This is also gonna be a cliffnotes version because good lord I still need to decide on quite a bit of her backstory.

- Carmelita's birth was not an auspicious one; her mother had gotten in trouble for consorting with an outsider after being dissatisfied with the world at large, and the man himself was killed for the crime of finding the island. Carmelita's mother didn't know she was pregnant with her up until several months in, and vowed to never let the council that comprised the island find her daughter.

- What this resulted in is essentially Carmelita living in her room at all hours of the day; she was forbidden from exiting it. All that she was left with for company was her loving mother and the voices of the outside world; ones she could hear, but never could interact with under her mother's strict orders. She also had the view of the outside from her window as company; one that she looked longingly out of often, looking to the mountains and the sea and the trees below, imagining being down there instead of up in that old, boring room of hers.

- Carmelita's mother did everything she could to raise her daughter well enough; she taught Carmelita some basic things, at the very least, though she was occupied usually with work to support herself and her daughter. Still, her mother did her best to treat Carmelita warmly, even if she had to keep her daughter's existence a secret from the world at large. She wanted to believe that one day, they could find a place in the world.

- It wasn't until Carmelita was 10 years old that something outside of her mother interacted with her; a voice unlike any that she'd heard before. It didn't introduce itself immediately, but it became an imaginary friend of sorts for Carmelita, and one that she liked to play with in her room. She wasn't so lonely anymore, and that was the first bit of true happiness that she'd ever really experienced. It finally introduced itself years later as a god known as Fomalhaut, a god sealed within the island that wanted desperately to be free.

- It took five years for the two of them to hatch a plan of escape, and for Fomalhaut itself to have enough power to act on these plans; Fomalhaut snuck Carmelita out of her house and to the deep reaches of the island, where the magic keeping it afloat was stored. All it needed Carmelita to do was destroy the source of the magic--a white crystal--and they would be freed. With Fomalhaut's help, Carmelita was able to do just that, shattering the crystal before the island began to fall and her vision went black.

- By the time she finally woke up, she was outside of the ruins of the sky island, and was able to see just what had happened for herself. All of the people she could see there were dead, and Fomalhaut was, initially, nowhere to be found. It wasn't until she heard the god's voice in her head and looked down at her chest that she realized that the god had essentially taken up residence in her body. It told her she was free; that they were both free. And that as thanks for freeing it, Fomalhaut would stay with her and experience the new world alongside her. Not wanting to process anything else that had just happened, Carmelita went on her merry way and began to explore the new world that had opened up to her with gusto.

- tl;dr, a member of one of the major guilds of Madide found her, basically went 'oh no' and took her to the guild and she trained alongside the guild's many others, and learned how to make a somewhat honest living taking odd jobs for the guild. outside of that, she's mostly been living her best vagabond life, going from town to town, city to city, place to place and experiencing the world for the past 12 years.
POWERS
Weapons. Carmelita was trained by the guild that she was taken into to wield different kinds of weapons. Of them, she seemed to favor polearms the most, but when push comes to shove, Carmelita much prefers using her own fists in a fight.

Fomalhaut. The god residing in a cavity in her chest, Fomalhaut is a being that governs over Ice and Life magic. Carmelita herself can't actually use any of the magic that Fomalhaut specializes in, but the god helps her in other ways in a fight. The god can lend some of it's slimey form to Carmelita to take the form of a lance or a pair of gauntlets, hardening into a suitable weapon for a long fight. The particular elements that it governs over grant Carmelita certain immunities as well, as long as it is with her; Carmelita is immune to Ice magic, and has a pretty impressive resistance to cold. The Life magic grants her some enhanced healing, though it's pretty much just slightly faster than what a normal human could do. As a result of their bond, however, Lita has gained a weakness to Light type magic. They're far from indomitable together, but they can put up a hell of a fight.
